By Associated Press – (DERIDDER, La.) A $250,000 animal shelter is coming to a parish that has survived storms and Deep South heat with roofed chain-link outside cages thanks to a friendship that began with a note from a previous volunteer the day Hurricane Laura devastated south-west Louisiana.
According to Beauregard Parish Sheriff Mark Herford, construction of a temperature-controlled structure with adequate space for confined animals and medical treatment will begin this summer….
